MOST HOLY DIVINE MOTHER
I realized today, as I walked the beautiful grounds of the co-op in which I live, that this Great Mystery we name “God” or “Mother Nature,” has, indeed, gifted us humans with all we really need. And that I am here on earth not to “earn my living” but to serve the living. And for this Holy Work, I am automatically paid from “God’s” Storehouse of never-ending abundance.
Take time out today to enjoy the beauty of being alive on this magnificent planet earth.
Photography by Toni Roberts:
what season is it!?
even the garden seems confused
the trees are hesitant about changing from summer green to autumn yellow
my secret, quiet spot
just the faintest hint of the changing season
I decide to search for beauty around me instead of bitching and moaning about the terrible MTA service in the Boogie-Down Bronx; and lo and behold I end up capturing unexpected beauty existing in the midst of the chaos, confusion and heaviness of my surroundings.
Who would believe that one could find such perfection at the corner of Waters Place and Eastchester Road!? This perfectly manicured lawn totally diverts my attention from the insufferable heat and humidity. Perfect beauty.
There is no shade at the next bus stop so I venture into the tiny wooded area behind it and look up at the pattern of trees against sky…so intricately woven by the Hands of Mother Nature.
Fascinating how the branches of these two trees reach out to intertwine with one another: Sisters bound in love.
Much later on; weary, hungry and very much out-of-sorts, I find myself at yet another bus stop with an unbelieveable forty minute wait for that final bus home. The magnificence of the sunset, however, soothes my jangled nerves and eases my body’s aches and pains.
Is there anything more spectacular than the show Mother Nature puts on each evening?
All I could say to this was WOW! What a show! Keeping me awed, entertained and not homicidal…
Who could experience anything other than peace upon beholding this sky?
The splendor of Nature washes away all impatience and bad temper…
And I rode home in peace.
Whenever I feel down, defeated, overcome and depressed, all I have to do is look at these photos! Two friends and I attended a “sweat” this past Saturday at the New Dawn Foundation in New Rochelle, NY; and as we mounted the entrance steps what greeted us but a message from Mother Nature about never giving up…about how the seemingly impossible can and does occur. Not only did this brave little warrior of a plant coming up from a crack in the wall not give up its quest to reach the light from its home deep in the darkness below concrete steps, it had the bodacious audacity to blossom in its victory! I was caught without my camera but my friend, Patricia Bolivar, came to the rescue with her smart phone! Does this photo not lift your heart?
as I sat…breathed…waited…listened…
“follow the path of LOVE and not that of FEAR
for it is in the land of
that one finds
have trust and faith in the wildest most chaotic aspects of the
that you are always
in all ways
exactly what you came
ignore the world…
for they are the
you are more than enough...”
(I thank you, Y and N--my sisters from another mother–for the gift of yesterday on “The Land.”)
that there is an entire
fighting my battles…
