Finding One’s Way…

There's a fog upon the land...

Sometimes there’s a fog upon the land

and one cannot see one’s way

clearly…

Then an opening appears…

Getting through the fog...

And one can find one’s way through…

Finding safe passage...

“Blizzard” of October 29, 2011–Bronx, NYC

storm-tossed trees

A view from my window of storm-tossed trees

fall-colored leaves barely visible

heavily-laden branches swaying

to the rhythm of an unexpected wild

winter wind

snow monsters

huge, tentacled monsters

crawl slowly along the

snow-whitened grass

overtaking the bench

where I sat

just yesterday

in a quiet

autumn

moment

my river

windswept and snow-covered

my river lies barely visible

its autumn clothing

now covered in

winter’s garb

if i were an artist

If I were an artist

this would be an

oil painting

of my river

on october 29, 2011

if i were a prolific artist

this would be a second rendition!

Shifting Moods…

beloved...filled to overflowing...pregnant with new life...

reflecting the heavens above...

the rich blue of your waters...

refflecting the heavens above...

i rest in your tranquility...

and today...desolation! where have the teeming waters gone?

a dry barreness...relflections of my changing moods...

shifting waters of the soul...life...self...shapeshifting into the quiet perfection of...being...

After Irene…A Meditation…

After Irene…A Meditation…

After Irene...

The river…swollen…pregnant with quiet-hidden-below-the-surface-new-life…deposited below during the fury of Irene. The river…overflowing its banks…threatening the lone car on the highway. Where is he going? Why is it there? Why is the driver not home…sheltered…respectful of the wrath and fury of the elements? Absorbing…listening in silent homage to Mother Nature…

The spectacular beauty and majesty of sky and river…

how overshadowed are the constructs of man in comparison. How close to annihilation by water…

The play of Light and Dark…Yang and Yin…Life and death…

Angry clouds, the aftermath of stormy skies…

giving in to the inevitability of Light…new Life…

A quiet grey peace…the aftermath of violence…

I turn my attention inward…away from the river…back to matters at hand…
